Hiking Challenge

Having completed my goal to walk from home to the Dojo on Monday I am still filled with a glow of satisfaction. Throughout this journey I had the sense of being on a pilgrimage and landmarks — both geological and man made — took on a deeper significance in this slower-paced context.

Staged Route: Home –> Meopham –> Cobham –> Rochester –> Chatham –> Dojo

I would recommend much of this route to other walkers, even the slightly daunting M2 bridge! Following train lines is a practical way to explore a longer route such as this, and we are lucky here in Kent to have some useful train lines.

My fitness log shows the route taken was about 18 miles, although Google Maps measures it at 23 miles. Overall, I have hiked 134% of the minimum target, with the Home –> Dojo route making up 111%.
